We’re Getting Out of Debt

Back in December 2010, we started really talking about our financial situation. We saw the big hunk of debt that wasn’t getting any smaller, despite us throwing $900.00 on top of our minimum payments. We had, at that time, $81,322.84 in debt. The amount is spread across credit cards, auto loans, student loans, and family loans. It was a roller coaster of ups and downs.

After looking at the number we decided, “We’re fed up and getting rid of our monkey.” Budgets, eating in, and no cable… those are some of the things we’re doing to cut down on expenses. We’re calling it the Watered Down Total Money Makeover. This is a program based on Dave Ramsey’s Total Money Makeover. It’s watered down because we will still play with money a bit; a trip here and there, a night out, etc…, but these are all budgeted for ahead of time. With hard work, we’ll be debt free of $81,322 in five years or less. We urge you to do the same. Throughout the process we’ll have a debt calculator and our progress listed in the sidebar.
