Nine Eleven

Nine years ago today our country came under attack by radical Muslims. I know I will never forget where I was when the tragedy was taking place. I was living in Eau Claire, WI. It was my senior year of college and I was getting ready for class. I had the TV on as I got ready and saw what was taking place as it happened. I saw the first tower fall before going to class. By the time I got to class, where the professor was showing the news on the projector, the second tower had come down. About 15 minutes after class was supposed to begin, she said we had better get something done that day.

After class I went to the dining area where hundreds of students had gathered to watch what was going on on the various TVs throughout the room. I don’t remember much else from that day, just the horror of seeing the first tower go down. I was supposed to be getting ready for my first trip to California with our women’s soccer team, but all flights were cancelled.

Here we are, nine years later and people are talking about Mosques at ground zero and Quran burning. I think, the best answer came from an imam.

“Is it legal to build the Mosque at ground zero? Absolutely. Is it the right thing to do? Definitely not. Is it legal to burn the Quran? Yes, it is. Is it the right thing to do? No.”

The photos in this slideshow were sent to me as an email sometime after the fact. You may have seen this email, too. A word of warning, there are some graphic photographs in the set. It’s late, but we hope you took some time to remember.
